Living a life by the fruit of the Spirit is the only way to live. You will be at peace living the life God wants you to live. So pull up a seat, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and let’s talk about living a life by the Fruit of the Spirit.

Life by the Spirit

13You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ^a ; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” ^b 15If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever ^c you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Here is another word to keep in your tool chest: integrity. We need to stand on the word of God, be accountable for our actions, and follow through with what we say we are going to do. Without integrity, your words and actions mean nothing. Your family needs to know they can count on you, that you are a Man of your word. And that is where integrity comes into play. These days, it can seem like it’s okay to go with the flow and not be accountable for your actions. And this goes for more than just bad decisions. What happens when we don’t make time for the important things? What happens when we don’t speak up for what’s right? How can men stand to be real when they don’t understand what it means to be truly accountable? This is just the beginning of that line of questioning.

When we don’t take the initiative, when we don’t exercise our responsibilities, we not only fail as men but also cause harm to other people and damage the world around us. It isn’t just about us. Men have a lot of influence, for good or bad. If we don’t take responsibility for our choices, we are giving the other people in our lives and our communities a bad example.

When a man takes on the duty to be responsible and accountable for his actions, it elevates him and everyone around him. It shows strength, determination, and self-control. This is a man with a vision for the world that he wants to live in, and he’s not afraid to take action.

If you want to be a real man, you’ve got to take responsibility for your actions. You can’t let the world around you define who you are. Take ownership of your choices. Take the initiative. You’ve got to be responsible and accountable for everything you do. This way, you can be the strong, godly man you are meant to be.
